The city of Salerno, the provincial capital, is characterized by the presence of the port, from which ferries depart frequently for the islands of Campania (and beyond) and the villages of the Amalfi Coast. Do not miss the Arechi Castle located on the Bonadies hill, (from which there is a spectacular view that sweeps from the Sorrento Peninsula to the Cilento Coast) and the Norman Cathedral dedicated to San Matteo, patron saint of the city. The Amalfi Coast has as its fulcrum the city of Amalfi, which gives its name to this long stretch of coast and where it is possible to visit the Duomo Complex dating back to the 12th century, with the Cloister of Paradise, the Cathedral, the Museum of the Crucifix and the Crypt of Sant’Andrea; the Museum of the Ancient Arsenals and the Paper Museum. It is also worth stopping to visit the other villages of the coast, such as Vietri sul Mare, Cetara, Maiori, Minori, Ravello, Atrani, and many others.
